This is my first pregnancy and my gyn no longer delivers - a real bummer because she is great. Looking for an OB in Newport Beach. Dr. Jody White Lai was suggested does anyone have any experience with her or other OB suggestions in the area.
I also go to Newport Center Womens Health but Amy VanBlaricom is my OB. I haven't met her yet, my first visit was with her NP but the office is great, friendly and welcoming. The NP was sweet, she spent a lot of time with me answering my questions. The u/s tech was great as well, I know they see babies ALL day long but she generally sounded excited to be showing me my tiny baby and the heartbeat.
Good luck with whomever you choose, and make sure you feel comfortable!!!

Thanks. Amy VanBlaricom was also suggested to me by my Gyn but when I googled her there seemed to be some mixed reviews which made me a little nervous particularly because this is my first. Do you know anyone else that has had experience with her good or bad?
Dr. VanBlaricom was suggested to me by my naturopathic doctor who has other patients that have been happy with her.
I was very unhappy with my last OB, I miscarried and the office really didn't act like they cared just told me to go to the ER so needless to say I didn't go back there...but I've seen several people on these message boards who say they are happy with her (my last OB).
I guess it all comes down to personal preference and if the staff/doctor match what you are looking for.

I see Dr Gigi Kroll (her partner) however I have seen Dr VanBlaricom several times when Dr Kroll was either in surgery or on vacation. Dr Kroll was on vacation when I went into labor with my son so Dr VanBlaricom was calling the shots telling me when to go to L&B. I really like her, she has a great bedside manner.
I go to Dr. Lai and absolutely love her..she has been out on maternity leave and comes back next week. I would recommend her without hesitation! Hope that helps!

Ditto this. Dr Lai delivered my daughter and will be delivering #2 as well.
I had luke warm feelings with my original OB and wanted to switch to someone who I loved. I found Dr Lai through a referral and ended up switching to her half way through my first pregnancy. My husband I are both so glad we did. He tries to come with me to all my dr appts, and we both have talked about what a great decision it was to change drs.
Dr. Lai's my doctor and I love her! She's pretty great! She answered all my questions I had and would call if Zi couldn't wait for an appointment to ask a question. She had a baby in November and I don't know if she's back to work yet, but her nurse practitioner is a very sweet lady from London who did my six week check up. I highly recommend Dr. lai
Lulu, she's in a practice with a couple of other OBs who are all recommended by my PCP. Dr. Kent was on call when I went into labor. She seemed nice and did a great job with my stitches when I tore. I'm sad Dr. Lai couldn't be there, but Dr. Kent did a great job.

Dr. Richard Agnew.
Small family Practice, very caring. He is also a Favorite of the L & D Nurses at Hoag, and on call very frequently.
