NTR: jewelry help!

DH gave me a beautiful purple sapphire and onyx art deco pin for Christmas. I love it - but I don't know how to wear it!

It kind of looks like this, except the central stone is larger/wider and the bar is thinner. It's about 2.5 inches long.

How does one wear a pin? I feel like I have only seen them on suit jackets, which I don't wear very often. Would it look good on a nice, black cardigan? Or can you use it to pin a light scarf at your collar bone? I'm pretty helpless when it comes to accessories. Visual examples would really help.
