Trying to Get Pregnant

stressed out from temping???

Anyone else??  I know I'm only 4 months into this whole TTC thing, but for some reason, I am feeling very stressed and upset this month about the whole thing...I am wondering if anyone stopped temping, or do you think that is a stupid thing to do.  I'm just think I may be stressing myself more than I need to...

Re: stressed out from temping???

  • I understand how you are feeling. I felt that way last month (month 3) and This month i feel somewhat better about it. I don't have as long of cycles as you do though. I have considered not temping for a little while now that I have an idea of my body and that I am ovulating, but then I get nervous that something will change and I won't know what is going on.

You really have to do what you feel is best for you though. If you feel you need a break it may be something to do for a cycle or 2 and the re-evaluate. good luck with whatever you choose to do

  • I stopped temping, but not because it was stressing me out.

I'll answer your question with a question.  How stressed are you going to be next cycle (if you have one) when you're period is "late", you get - HPTs and you have no clue what is going on?

  • I haven't felt stressed about temping until this cycle. I didn't O when I was supposed to so when I see a dip and then no rise after it's kind of upsetting. I wouldn't be able to stop temping though because my cycles are irregular and I'd rather know if I'm waiting to o or in the 2ww rather than just guessing.

  • Due to the nature of my personality, I refuse to chart. I become obsessive about things and I know it would stress me out.

Instead, I track how long my cycles are, figure out when I *should* O, add a few extra days before and after, and get down to business with my DH. That's it.

Yes, I feel like I'm missing out on some valuable information charting can provide, but to me it's not worth it. I'm fortunate to have very regular cycles, so I'm hoping what I'm doing is enough! (Worked for my son ;)

  • I am.  I wake up at different times and often temp more than once a night.  I usually record only the temp that was taken at the "usual" time (for me, between 4:10 - 4:40 AM).  But if my DD wakes up during night, I usually can't temp both at the same time and after 3 consecutive hours of sleep.  It's probably because of that, that my temps have been all over the place this cycle.

  • I dropped temping once I hit the 2ww last cycle and haven't looked back. It's definitely helped me relax. However, the only reason I feel comfortable not temping is that I have been doing it for a long time, and know my body very well at this point. I had enough data built up to be confident that my cycles are very consistent. I'm not sure I would feel the same way if I was having long cycles like you. Maybe you would want to try dropping the temps after ovulation is confirmed and see how you feel about it before going cold turkey for the full cycle. GL whatever you decide!
  • I was stressed my last cycle.  I was sleep deprived when I O'd so I did not get accurate CH until AF arrived.  I spent the 2WW worrying if we did it at the right time. Which we did, not that it mattered.  I also stress about making sure I wake up to temp even though my alarm is set.  I find myself waking up extra early to make sure I don't forget.  I am going to temp this cycle again starting tomorrow.  I am going to the RE and I think it is a good tool to bring so the RE can see my cycles on paper.  I do find it helpful for that reason as well as the other obvious reasons.

  • By the way, I just looked at your chart and realized you're 13 dpo with temps still above the coverline. Have you tested yet? Smile

  • I am completely relaxed in my waiting to O period, but when I get into the 2ww I get stressed out. I'm also on cycle 4 but I'd rather keep temping to get a few charts under my belt before I completely stop temping in the 2ww. I really like knowing where my temps are at but at the same time do get sad when they drop but I realize that's just how it's going to be until I get a BFP. It's up to you to decide if you're comfortable enough to stop temping in your 2ww. I see that you're at 13dpo, good luck when you test!!

  • Thanks for all the responses ladies...the only thing that makes me keep going with temping is my wonky cycles.  i think I may stop temping after O, that might help!

Yes, took a test today, and BFN, trying to keep my hopes up, but I'm not feeling very hopeful this cycle....

  • When I start temping again I am going to start when I see EWCM and stop after ovulation is confirmed.

  • I'm only on cycle #3, but I'm done temping. It gave me anxiety every single morning and I just have to believe that can't be helping my cause any. To each their own though....who knows, I could totally want to start back up next month! :)
