Single Parents

speaking of NYE, what are your plans?

I'll be in bed by 8:00, like usual. I don't want to deal with the crowds, spending money, trying to find a sitter, and losing out on the sleep anyway. The local children's museum does a countdown at noon we might go to, but it's at DS's naptime so we'll have to see.

What are YOU doing? Maybe I can live vicariously...

Re: speaking of NYE, what are your plans?

  • I'm going to a big bash at a local, historic hotel.  It's $50 and that includes drinks and appetizers.  There is also a DJ.  Should be fun.  My mom has generously offered to watch P for the night.

  • I will be at home with the kids as well - I may get a box of bacon wrapped scallops from Target and eat them all by myself ;)

  • My plans? None.

After 12 years of being a single parent I gave up a long time ago trying to find a sitter and go out. Most times once I was out I just wanted to be back home.

So I will be home with Logan in bed. My brother and my sister in law will be out at a party. More than likely my daughter will be at my mothers.

I probably won't even make it till midnight.

  • STBXH has DD, so I plan on cooking myself an awesome dinner, renting a good movie and drinking a couple of glasses of champagne. It sounds depressing, but actually I'm looking forward to it! I know I have lots of years ahead of me to celebrate with other people, but this year I am looking forward to spending some quality time with me, myself and I :).

  • Making the 5/6 hour drive with my sister to my Parent's house and then going to my Aunt's New Years Surprise Birthday Bash.

  • I have no clue...my DCP has become a good friend of mine and invited me over, but I'm not sure if I'm going to go. If not, I'll stay home and stuff my face with high fat, salty food, wine, and probably pass out at 10pm. I'm surprisingly okay with that plan.

  • Hoping someone in my family would watch the girls for an hour or two - if not, E & I will watch a movie after the girls go to bed.

  • Bartending

I only work there Fridays and I tried switching it for Saturday night but I couldn't get a taker. Plus I'm on an antibiotic I can't drink during or I guess it will make me extremely sick. So I might as well be working if I can't have any fun!

  • I make my dinner of appetizers for NYE,  We have chicken wings, shrimp cocktail, chinese dumplings, deviled eggs w/ crab, bacon or smoked salmon toppings, chips and dips...probably veggies and hummus.  And I leave it out all night to nosh on.  We either watch movies or play games together.

When the kids were little and they couldn't tell time we would hold hands in a circle and countdown at around 9-930 and then send them to bed.  Then chill out sipping wine/champange until midnight...now that they are older they stay up with us till midnight.

Then new year's day we are going over to my parent's house for potluck dinner and games.  We needed a new tradition this year, my grandparents had their wedding anniversary on New Year's Day so we would have all the family get together all the aunts, uncles and cousins for a fancy dinner at a really nice restaurant.  My Grandfather passed in Feburary 2009 just after their 65th.  It was really weird last year not knowing what to do or where to go.  So this year we are trying this.

  • I actually have a date... and im really excited. Dinner and then to friends house for a NYE / house warming party. They live in the city and have a roof top lounge so while yes it will be cold it will be exciting to sit up and see the little fire works they do when the ball drops.

Im just really nervous but like i said excited none the less Big Smile

Wow this sounds awesome and Yummy!!! I am working tomorrow (YAY!), but afterwards me and E are going to party like its 1999! (Meaning in bed by 10 with a HUGE sleep fight from him) I am going to cook something yummy for me to eat though, just don't know what yet.

  • The girls and I are having mini crescent dogs and pizza rolls (DD1's pick) for dinner.  I'm letting DD1 stay up late with me and we might make cookies and drink ginger ale in fancy cups.  Once she goes to bed I'm going to have some wine and watch the next episode(s) of The Tudors which should be here via Netflix tomorrow.  At midnight I'll watch the ball drop with all the lights off except the Christmas tree, while sitting on the couch snuggled next to my Golden, and burning a Bayberry candle like I do every year.

  • Well... sadly I am sick AGAIN.  So It's looking like I'm going to sit and whine about it all night, lol.  Nah, actually I doubt tonight will be any different than any other night.  Liam will go to bed and I will play video games and watch a movie.  (what can I say, I'm a game junkie)
