I got my medical records today to take with me to the hospital when I go in to labor and as I was looking over them I found several things my dr had never mentioned- and of course i didnt look at them till i got home.
What are 'lukes' in your urine sample? I have that listed for several visits, including todays. I also have trace protien in my urine, which I would think is bad, but he never mentioned it.
This is one that really bugs me- since 20 weeks, I have been consistently been measuring 3-4 weeks ahead and not one dr mentioned it to me. I didnt ask, because I just assumed they would tell me like they did with my first pregnancy. Also, at 24 weeks baby was breech, last visit and today he is transverse. Shouldn't I be told this stuff? Next week I am all over them with questions. I am so much more unhappy with their service this time. Last time they were great. Now, not so much.
Re: 'lukes' in urine sample?
It's probably leukocytes - or white blood cells. It can be an indicator of a urinary tract infection, but not always. (I think you also have to have nitrites in your urine for it to be a UTI but not always.) I wouldn't sweat that.
It might be "leuks" which is short for leukocytes, or white blood cells. It could indicate some kind of infection, like a UTI. I would ask about that for sure.
It's strange they didn't tell you that you were measuring big or about "trace proteins"... maybe the protein level was within some kind of safe tolerance... I have no idea if there is a safe tolerance of protein in the urine. Or maybe they ruled out pre-eclampsia if your blood pressure is normal.
I can understand them not wanting to alarm you with the position of the baby at 24 and 28 weeks... baby still has LOTS of time and room to turn around before birth; they may have not wanted you to worry needlessly.
i think it did say leuks. my records are in the other room and i am trying to stay warm and rest, and am just being lazy in bed.
I wouldn't be concerned about the position except that I am 35 weeks, and I know it is getting cramped in there. From what I have read online (dangerous, i know) it looks like if the baby has not turned by 36 weeks, they can try to move him with the hope of success, or schedule a c-section. i would think that that warrants an honorable mention at my appt.
The leukocytes are white blood cells. Could actually be from your vaginal discharge getting into the urine sample. In the absence of nitrates/nitrates (I forget which) or red blood cells, it's not really a big deal.
I'd be upset about the breech/transverse thing. Do they do a lot of c-sections? Maybe they just don't think it matters because they assume you'd be ok with that. I'd definitely bring it up.
