Transition from crib to bed

How did you transition your lo from the crib to the bed? Dd will be 2 in a couple weeks and dd #2 is on the way, arriving in May. We want to start transitioning dd to her big girl bed so that she has a good 3-4 months to get used to it before dd #2 arrives so she doesn't feel like she's losing her crib because of the baby.

 What things did you do to make this transition go smoothly and how did it work for you?

We have a Yo Gabba Gabba (her favorite show) comforter and sheets for her twin bed as well as wall decals so that we can make the bed more exciting for her. We want to get her into her bed close to her 2nd birthday.

We are attempting this next month for the same reasons, and I have no clue what to do lol

I'm in the same boat!  Hopefully it will go smoothly.  DD is getting a whole new room and all her toys are going in there, which I hope will help.
