The Birth Center, Bryn Mawr

Has anyone delivered at The Birth Center in Bryn Mawr, or know anyone who has? I am attending an informational session in 2 weeks but would like some input from anyone who has experience there!

Most of my friends delivered there;I think I was the only one of my group that opted for the hospital.

They all had really positive experiences there.  It is so close to Bryn Mawr Hospital, that if your baby would need the NICU for some reason, it is nice to be right across the street.

I know they make you go home within 12 hours of delivery, and that was the main reason why I didn't deliver there.  For my first child, I really wanted to stay in the hospital a bit longer!

I am opting for a hospital birth, however one of my best friends was at the Birth Center in Bryn Mawr for all prenatal care (she ended up with an emergency c-section at Bryn Mawr hospital:(  However, she absolutely loved the Birth Center and would highly recommend it to anyone! Unfortunately, she cannot speak to the birthing process.

    Good luck!

We're a birth Center Family! I didn't give birth there, after 50 hours of unmedicated labor I was transferred to the hospital and ended up with a c-section 15 hours later. With that being said, I still had the most amazing experience. The midwives are outstanding. You get so much support and time and no question is ever too small. Even with my transfer a midwife was always with me. If you PM me your email address I'll send you my birth photos if you want to see them. I think it gives a pretty good showing of what you can expect.

I look at it this way, they are experts on delivering babies, if you need a doctor and hospital then you can have one. Otherwise go to people who are specialists and do one thing and do it well.

I was a BC mom but had to be transferred to BMH for an emergency c-section.  I had a great experience with them.  When I got pregnant with baby #2, they referred me to another midwife because they cannot take care for women who have had c-sections.  They were VERY supportive and helpful of me successfully VBACing.  And I did:-)  With a wonderful midwife at a different hospital:-)

I did, in April. It was a great experience from the prenatal care through delivery & postpartum. The midwives are amazing. I wish everyone could have a birth this way. Feel free to PM me specific questions or I can definitely talk to you about my experience- I never finished writing my birth story, but I can send you that, too, if you want! They will also give you a list of previous clients you can contact when you go to the meeting.

Wow, people really seem to love it there! I am so excited to check it out next week! I've been doing a lot of research on birth centers v. hospitals and it really seems like a birth center will give me kind of birth I want, especially for my first! I would love to hear more first hand accounts from people that aren't just on the internet. If anyone has a birth story about their experience at the birth center and would like to share it with me, my email address is nmletts@gmail.com. Thanks for all the input and I'll let you know what I decide!

I attended an information session and I really loved it.  Unfortunately they were already full for February births by the time I started looking into them (I think I was 20 weeks or so).  Luckily Reading Birth Center had openings and I've been getting prenatal care there since 25 wks.  I love it!  If Bryn Mawr doesn't work out for you for whatever reason I would def recommend Reading Birth Center.  Good luck!

    Hi,

I delivered at The Birth Center in Wilmington, DE and the care was outstanding. They also offer waterbirth there which is what I opted for. Check out their website for more info. I also attended an info session at TBC at Bryn Mawr but they were already booked for my date. TBC in Wilmington has a very warm and relaxing atmosphere. I encourage you to attend an info session at TBC in Wilmington too!

    Good Luck!

They have a satillite office in Exton for visits based out of a pediatrician's office, but the actual birthing happens at the site in Bryn Mawr.

Age shouldn't cause you to risk out.  I was 35 when I had my daughter there in 2012.  I'm 37 now and am 17 weeks with my second.  So far, so good.
