Baby Names

Name my kid

I have no idea what to name this baby boy...I can't even think of more than two that I like.

So far we have Elliot Gunnar and Colin Gunnar...our last name starts with a J and is two syllables, if that matters at all. Gunnar is a family name, and I'd like to keep it as the middle name.

I'm stumped. Help!?

Re: Name my kid

  • I'd check out Nymbler if I were you. You can put in Elliot and Colin and it will give you other name suggestions that have a similar style. (https://nymbler.com) I like both of the names you have there. I think I'd go with Elliot - Colin just seems too close to colon for my liking. ;)

  • I like Elliot and Colin- names we considered for our first son- but don't really like them with Gunnar.  I have Gunnars in my family, too- is your family Scandinavian?  Or German?  Here are some scandinavian- and some also german (but don't sound too out there) names:

     Karsten- germanic, used in scandinavia

Soren- yes, if it's pronounced "correctly" it does rhyme with urine- unfortunately!   But I like how people would pronounce it here in the US, with the initial syllable rhyming with "more", also German

Severin- wow, all of these start with S, didn't mean for that to be a trend!  This one is Scandinavian and German

Stellan- one of my favorites, not common here

Those are some of the more "american sounding" names.  Good luck!

ETA: if you want more scandinavian suggestions, let me know!
