remind me. How long does the egg survive after O?

We have been charting to avoid. I o'd 2 days ago. Last night we got caught up in the moment and DH asked if he needed to wear a condom this time. I told him to pull and Pray! (which he did a poor job of.) What was I thinking?!?!? Obviously, I wasn't. I usually wait several days after O to go without. Please tell me that the egg is already dead and I don't have to spend the next 2 weeks worrying.

I do believe it is 24 hours, max. So if you have been charting, and are positive you o'd a few days ago, I think you'll be fine. Most likely!

I read 24 hours and if the egg wasn't fertilized by then it disintegrates.  You should be fine.

I'm thinking 12-48 hrs, but since you don't know exactly on that day when O occurred, if avoiding I would wait until I got 3 high temps to confirm O before considering it "safe". I wouldn't worry too much as although there is a possibility I think it's pretty unlikely with the scenario you gave.

Thanks ladies. I feel better now. Obviously(see ticker) we wouldn't mind another LO but we'd prefer it on our timing. Plus we are reconsidering trying in February or waiting a bit longer.

your ticker says you are going to be trying in another month anyway.....what difference does a month make??
