Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Sleep clicky

I was bored last night and looking through old posts. It is so sad to me that at 3 months I was wondering when my child will sttn, If I would have known then that a year later at 15 months my LO is still not sttn, I probably would have gone nuts. S, when did your LO sttn?[Poll]

  • We got really lucky and our LO started STTN by like 10w old. That's not to say that when he was going through a growth spurt he wasn't waking up for a bottle. & we definitely went through a several month stage around 8m that he stopped STTN. BUT he was a GREAT sleeper when he was really little.

  • Dont worry babe she will soon! if its teething it will pass soon how many times does she wake up? trust me i know how it feels have you tried sound machines?
  • She usually wakes up 2-3 times during teething (right now) and 1-2 times when she is not teething. She has never consistently sttn.

  • if STTN is still considered at least 6 hours, then it was 0-3 months for us.

I wonder what it is that determines whether or not they wake up or sleep.  Out of curiosity, did you and DH STTN early on?

  • DD has been STTN (from about 8pm to 8am) since 4 mo old.  She is a trooper never woke during teething or anything.  And for instance lately she hasnt been feeling well and she will literally come get me then walk to the gate to the upstairs and when i say "do you want to go nite nite" she will nod yes or indicate yes hahaha!

DS on the other hand is still not STTN he is up a few times a night for something.  a paci reinsert, orajel, tylenol etc.  he is a teeeeetttthhhing fool.  we have 2 molars coming in at once.  for a while between his front 4 and molars he would only wake 1x a night.  it was AMAZING!!! At his rate i swear he will be at college still calling me to lull him back to sleep!

  • Is she getting enough to drink at night? how much does she drink? Z started to sttn at around 6 months before that it was waking up 2 times to eat. She still only drinks around 4-5 ounces of milk. I use sound machines and she will sleep from 8:30-4 am and wake up at 4 am for a feed then go back and wake up around 9.
  • I chose SS b/c I don't really remember, but its been several months.  If I had to guess it would be around 9-10 months.

  • DD STTN since day 1, BUT at about 7 months after a trip home to visit my family she is a HORRIBLE sleeper. She wakes a good 5 times a night. Every now and then we will have a great night which is her only waking once or twice.

  • SS because it has not been consistent until recently.  But technically DS started STTN when we did Ferber last winter.  He would get sick and stop STTN now and then.  I think it has been maybe 2 or three months since he STTN even when sick.
  • We have done ferber twice. Once at 8 months for falling asleep. And then again around a year for the night wakings. It worked both times, but she got sick a few months ago and it al went out the window. I can't bring myself to do it a third time.

  • SS: They both started STTN around 4.5m. They really slept great overall until August (19m). They had a stomach bug and Will got in the habit of night wakings. since then, we've had a number of sleep problems. Most recently, the past 5-6 weeks Alex has been having nightmares. Lately he wakes up at least twice a night screaming and sobbing hysterically. (This happens during naps fairly often, too, which results in very cranky boys the rest of the day.) We are getting SO TIRED. And Will seems extra cranky and I think it might be b/c he keeps getting woken up by his screaming brother. :(

  • I can't imagine doing it with two. It was a stomach bug that did it to us too. Since then J has been up usually 3 times a night.
