Babies: 0 - 3 Months

AngelCare users, come in!

We're setting up our AngelCare monitor today b/c we're going to *try* DS sleeping in his crib tonight (he's been sleeping in the RnP in our bedroom since he was born -- he's 10.5 weeks now).

Any tips for making sure the sensitivity is set just right? Also, we're using a wedge in the crib for DS's reflux -- will that affect the monitor, do you think?

Also, are any AngelCare users tummy or side-sleeping their babies? DS prefers side or tummy, obviously, but we're going to keep trying to have him on his back in the crib. It was easy to put him on his side in the RnP and he'd sleep well for hours ... Any tips for the transition and using the monitor would be great! TIA.

Re: AngelCare users, come in!

  • We have our setting on 3 1/2. Any higher than that, it picks up other things like the ceiling fan or the mobile moving. Any less and we were getting false alarms (the worst thing EVER!)  DD is a tummy sleeper, its the reason we got the angel care monitor. I'm not sure if the wedge would interfere or not. Maybe contact angel cares customer service?

  • We use the wedge and have no problems
  • we use it because DD is a tummy sleeper.  we were not comfy just putting her on her stomach without it.  we have had 1 alarm because she rolled herself to the corner and was off the part of the mattress being monitored.

she sleeps on her tummy due to reflux.

  • We just installed ours yesterday and we set it to 3 - we figure that's pretty safe (not too sensitive, not too unresponsive).DS is a tummy sleeper only.

I just wanted to add that there has been a lot of talk in the news recently about how unsafe wedges are! Just food for thought...

  • We set ours up today, and let her nap in there. I would recommend starting out tomorrow for a nap, just so if you have a false alarm/need to adjust sensitivity, it wont be as terrifying.
