S/O dating... sort of a poll

I clearly have no idea how to be single again!

So if you get a text (or FB message, or whatever) from a guy you are NOT interested in, do you a) ignore it completely, b) respond but keep it strictly friendly, just to be polite, or c) be direct and tell him you are not interested in him?

In this particular situation, we run into each a lot socially and have a lot of mutual friends, so I don't want to be rude...

  • Well, what did the text/message say?

They usually just say things like "hey what are you up to this weekend" but I am pretty sure that they are interested from how they act in person.

I would just be deliberately vague.  Say something like "oh, I've got a busy weekend planned for me and LO".

  • I am of the belief that the truth is always the best.  Do you have an issue hanging out with him as a friend?  Next time he asks just say that you are going to such and such a place.  If he asks if he can come make you state that he can come as a friend and nothing more.  Telling the truth will be better since you both have mutual friends and will more than likely run into each other again.  He may be hurt but he will still have your respect.
