Question about sidecarring...

Co-sleeping is going wonderfully, but DH has been on the couch for the past couple weeks. I need to find something that will help our situation, so here is my question...

DD is almost 7 months, maybe 18 lbs. Can anyone recommend something that I could buy for her to sleep in? Sidecarring the crib would be impossible, as our room is pretty small.

TIA for your recommendations!

Re: Question about sidecarring...

  • Hmmm...this is where cosleeping can get tricky. At 7 months I'd still want her in a VERY secure spot - what about a pack and play next to your bed? When it comes to combining sleep, safety and the marital bed, you really do need to do whatever it takes to make sure that you and DH are sleeping together, and sleeping well. It really will make a huge difference in your parenting. At 7 months, a PNP next to the bed will still reap the benefits of sharing a room without putting LO in any danger, and DH can come back to bed. Move it up close so you can put a hand on her back if need be, and let her fuss a little if she doesn't understand it at first. Crying is not always a negative. It's a form of communication. Let her know that you're there, you're available and she's not alone - she can still feel secure knowing that she's with the family, and you can feel secure knowing she's safe.
