DD now LOVES helping me with chores around the house. It is super cute and a lot of fun, but I feel like I'm running out of things that she can help me with. She will help me unload the dishwasher, can bring in an arm load of clothes to be washed, wipes up messes on the floors (sometimes), and puts laundry away. (Granted all of this is toddler style, so my tupperware cabinet is a mess, the laundry doesn't end up folded in the drawers, but it's still cute so I let her help.)
What else could she help me with around the house? What does your LO help with, and how do they do it?
Re: What chores does your LO "help" with?
He loves to help me clean out the dishwasher (I stand by the cabinets and he brings items to me) and he is obsessed with pushing the swiffer around (though I can't say the floors get clean). He will also help pick up his toys and he helps me put clothing into the hamper. He likes to pretend to scrub the floor. He also helps me feed the cats. He will get out their dishes and a can of wet cat food and a spoon. He will set the can and empty dishes down on the floor unopened, much to the cats' dismay!
There really isn't much else I can think of that he can do right now. Probably by the time he can really do chores, he won't want to!
They help clean out the dishwasher, help move clothes from the washer to the dryer, drag/push laundry baskets to and from bedrooms, clean up their playroom, pick up the little rugs in the kitchen and bathrooms when I vacuum, wipe down the lower cabinets when I'm cleaning counters, help sort the clean silverware into the right spots in the holder, put their dirty clothes in the hamper after I change them, put shoes away, stir food when I'm cooking, throw trash away, and do all kinds of other things that I can't think of right now.
Most of it is just me finding something for them to do since it's the only way I can get any chores done while they're awake. It actually ends up taking me far longer to finish up when they're helping most of the time, but they have fun and are included in what I'm doing so it's totally worth it.
Oh and he loves throwing trash away too, and "vacuuming" with his toy vacuum.
The boys help pick up their toys and they LOVE to throw trash in the garbage can. After every diaper change, they insist on being the ones to put the dirty diapers in the trash. They even know to wash their hands after!
They like to wipe spills up off of the floor. When E was throwing up last week, B was actually trying to help me wipe it up with a paper towel, then got his little toy vacuum to help! I told him it was sweet, but not necessary, LOL!
They run their little vacuums when I run ours. I can give them the swiffer duster to help when I dust. Sure, they don't do it perfecty, but it's nice that they're trying. They also help DH put the dishes in the dishwasher and take them back out.
They also know where the hamper is to put their dirty clothes.
I didn't realize how much they like to help until I just wrote it down!
DS will hand me clothes out of the dryer to put on our bed - to be folded. It's really cute b/c he grabs one item at a time...one sock, one shirt, etc. It takes awhile but he likes that I say "thank you" after each item is handed to me.
He also helps me cook. I pull a chair up to the counter and give him a tupperware bowl and he grabs tools off my tool turnabout. He "stirs" his pretend soup. I think he just likes to be near me and see what I'm doing. I explain everything while I'm doing it.
Then he likes to help me wipe off the kitchen table. I'll spray it with Windex (glass table) and he'll wipe it with a paper towel. It's adorable b/c he goes over the same spot like 10 times!
