Do you need receipts to take toys back to TRU?

I had a hard time returning items to BRU after my baby shower.  They required a gift receipt, which I didn't have, so I got stuck with over $100 in duplicate stuff I didn't need.

My sons got a bunch of toys for Christmas from extended family that they don't need.  I'm going to lose my mind if there is any more plastic junk in this house.  I am assuming they got this stuff at TRU since it's the only toy store in town, but don't know for sure.  Do you think they will let me exchange without a receipt?

  • If they are anything like BRU (and I'm assuming they are)  you will definitely need a receipt.

  • I'm pretty sure you need a receipt. I would suggest taking the toys back to Wal-Mart if it is something they carry.
  • Mine wont do anything without a receipt. I second Wal-mart, they will take anything they carry.
  • I got a duplicate from TRU and one had a receipt (yay!). It says all merchandise requires a receipt for return. Maybe you could just beg them for store credit?

  • I don't know, but that picture of your boys is so cute. Smile

do you have a Walmart nearby? They're the only store I know of that doesn't require a receipt to bring stuff back ... as long as it's in their system.

  • Try Kohls.  They carry a decent amount of toys.  DD got some Fisher Price toys that I returned there with no reciept and they gave me store credit no problem.

Thanks Hizzo.  They were bribed with suckers to smile for one Christmas Eve picture.  ;)

And thanks to everyone else.  I saw that two of the toys are sold at Walmart and another at Kmart.  I think I'll try my luck there.  I have no idea what I'm going to do with the massive Handy Manny tool bench.  Looks like it's being donated to the church nursery.
