Lupron brings on AF?

Is that what it's for? I've never used it before? My nurse this morning told me I would take 20 units of Lupron for about a week, then call them when AF arrived and drop down to 5 units. I'm worried I won't get AF from it but they said not be concerned...

Re: Lupron brings on AF?

  • I've never heard of it used to start AF.  It's a major suppresent (at least that's what they put me on it for).  It basically stops your body's natural cycle of ovualtion so it can be induced heavily with meds.

  • The lupron itself does nto bring on AF - usually AF arrives a few days after stopping BCP. Some people do not get af after stopping the pill, but from my understanding the RE proceeds with the cycle anyways as long as it shows your lining is not too thick at that point.

  • See, that's what I don't understand. I don't get AF on my own and I am not on bcps for this cycle, so I don't know how the heck they expect me to get a period on Lupron....Maybe I'll call and leave a message for the PA and see if she can explain it.
