Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Eyes rolling in the back of his head?

So it mainly happens with he is tired but its really concerning lately.  He just stares and blinks hard and then on occasion, he tilts his head back, his eyes roll back and then he blinks fast.  Then he is pretty much fine.

Does anyone else's 13 month old do this?  Is it normal?  A sign of tiredness?  Or should I definitely take him in because there is something wrong?  Thoughts?

Its happened twice this weekend...

  • Honestly, as a nurse, that sounds like a seizure to me.  I would take him in.

I was going to say this (I'm not a nurse though).  My dad does this, and he was diagnosed with seizures a few years ago.  He is on meds and does fine with them, but I would get it checked out. Hopefully it's just your LO getting tired, but it's best to get it check out.

  • My first thought is a silent seizure. I would get him checked out as soon as you can.

  • It could be seizures. My step bro has something called "Petite Mal" (i think thats what its called) and he has this happen to him very often. Its small/frequent seizures and are exactly like you described. Sometimes he just spaces out and twitches and thats the seizure.

  • Yeah, not to scare you, but that sounds like a silent seizure.
