I'm new to this, so I'm not 100% about all the acronyms, but I did want to vent. My husband and I have just started ttc. This is our second month. This month we bought one of those ovulation predictors. It's been a little over a week since I've ovulated and I'm just so anxious about it. How soon can you tell if you're preggers? I have one child already but it's been about 4 years since I was pregnant with her and I didn't notice till I missed my period. Is it possible to not get pregnant even though you had sex around the time of ovulation? I know I need to be patient. I'm just so excited to have another child.
Re: New to This
Hello and welcome!
I suggest reading the newbie info at the top of the page. There is a ton of good info in there, including a chart that explains how early you can test and what your chances of an accurate pregnancy test are. Most people suggest waiting until 14 DPO (days past ovulation).
Temping is the only accurate way of determining ovulation. Ovulation predictor tests only tell you when you ovulation may be coming, it doesn't confirm it. You can click anybody's tickers to go to Fertility Friend and set up a free account to track your temperatures.
A healthy couple who have perfect timing still only have a 20% chance of getting pregnant each month. So, it is very possible to not get pregnant even when you have sex around ovulation.
I haven't read it yet but a lot of people say Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book to read when TTC.
Good luck!
(Also most people here hate the word preggers. Just an FYI.)
