...and not TOO much of a big deal...but definitely worth celebrating!
DD has ASD and pretend play is really tough for her - we've been working on it in EI for awhile, especially with phones. DH gave her 2 old cell phones and her therapists will pretend to talk on it to her, and make it ring, etc.
Well, for Xmas my uncle gave her "My First Purse" with a pretend bright pink cell phone - like, totally fake looking. And I pretended to make it ring and talk into it and then I gave it to her and said, "It's for you" and she goes, "Hello? ok. Ok." And then babbled some nonsense words, then "bye bye" and put it in her "purse".
I know it's a small victory but it's SUCH an awesome thing when something you've been working on in therapy actually takes! Yay!
Merry Christmas to all of you guys!
