Infertility

"Waiting for Daisy" anyone read?

Anyone read this?  What did you think?  What did it primarily focus on?  Any other book recomendations?

Basically looking for something to cover the whole ordeal of dealing with infertility, steps along the way, and emotions.  I have read "Conception Chronicles" (loved it) but want something a little more informative.  TIA!!!

Re: "Waiting for Daisy" anyone read?

  • I'm reading it now. It's more of a story about this one woman's journey through IF. It's not as informative as Conception Chronicles.  I also liked Conquering Infertility.

  • It's definitely a personal story, so not necessarily "informative" like a reference book would be, but I loved it. It's heartbreaking at times. "How to Get Pregnant" by Sherman Silber is VERY informative (maybe too much) and, fair warning, very biased toward IVF - but I thought it was helpful.
  • Thanks ladies, I think I'll go pick it up after work tonight.

  • I agree with pp. I really liked it alot, for what it was...basically a story about her journey.

  • I hadn't heard of it so I looked it up on Amazon- I have to admit, this excerpt cracked me up...

"Clomid was my gateway drug; the one you take because, Why not -- everyone's doing it. Just five tiny pills. They'll give you a boost, maybe get you where you need to go. It's true, some women can stop there. For others, Clomid becomes infertility's version of Reefer Madness. First you smoke a little grass, then you're selling your body on a street corner for crack. First you pop a little Clomid, suddenly you're taking out a second mortgage for another round of in vitro fertilization (IVF). You've become hope's ***, willing to destroy your career, your marriage, your self-respect for another taste of its seductive high."
  • It's my favorite IF related book.  No, it's not particularly informative, but very reflective and introspective on the infertility and miscarriage journey.  I've read it a few times now, actually.
