Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I would call the doctor, but they're closed... need information

My DD is just over two months old and I am exclusively pumping so the birth control that my doctor put me on does not have progesterone. I started the pill this past Sunday and today I started having some brown spotting. Everything I am finding online about the pill and spotting is from 13 year old girls who start the pill for the first time and I feel it doesn't apply to me.I know  that spotting is normal when starting the pill, but I would think it would be red, and not brown.

I have found three options for what it could be: normal spotting due to the pill, implantation bleeding (which I had with DD),  or miscarriage. The doctor's office is closed for the holidays and I didn't get the chance to pick up a test today. I'll be able to get one on Sunday to know for sure, but I wanted to know if anyone else who started the pill after having their baby and had bleeding?

If anyone knows where I can find any information on this, could you link me to it? I just can't find anything that applies to my situation.

I also need to mention that I've previously been on the pill for years and have never had unusual bleeding before.

  • I am on the mini pill.  I had some spotting after starting it.  I thought it was going to be my period starting back up, but it only happened the one time.

  • I was told that I could spot any time in the first 2 months of taking the mini pill. Totally normal!

About a week after I started taking it I got a period. Normal period bleeding that lasted 4 days, and havn't had anything since.

  • Any time I've changed BC or skipped the placebos I've had brown spotting. It's not unusual!

  • There's effectively zero chance you're pregnant or miscarrying. It's just your body adjusting to the new hormones.
