DS cut his first tooth the other day, and its making me wonder about BFing in the future. How do you BF when your DC has teeth? Do you teach them not to bite, or is it just a non-issue? I want to keep BFing as long as possible;)
Dd has 6 teeth (and has had them forever), and it has really become a non issue. She did bite me the other day, but my supply was low (AF) and she was frustrated. Someone (on here I think) mentioned that if the teeth start becoming a problem, you have to make sure that you take your DC off when they are done eating...not playing (my DD used to like to hang out on my boob). Once she's done eating, the boob goes away. She's become a much better eater.
I also really only noticed issues when the top teeth came in. I thought I'd stop when she got teeth so early (3.5 months), but it's still going well.
DS got his first two teeth a few days after turning 4 months old. Each time he has gotten a new tooth, he goes through a day or two where a little nip is possible, but I think that he is just readjusting his bite. He now has 8 teeth and will be one year next week! Many times when he nurses he leaves little teeth marks, but it doesn't hurt. We are still EBF, so I would say it is a non-issue for us.
He has bitten me twice. Each time I said "No!" and stopped the nursing. I think that he was done anyway so he was just playing.
DD got her first tooth at five months and now has six teeth, and it's a non-issue for us. She bit me two or three times after her top teeth came in and laughed about it, but I guess the novelty wore off because it never became a habit.
