My husband loves the name Rydia for a girl... I don't like it! I haven't even found it on a baby name list. Luckily we have agreed on Avery for a first name. He wants to use Rydia for the middle name. Anyone else think Avery Rydia doesn't flow well (last name also starts with A) or is it just because I hate it?? His favorite boy's name is Cyan (I don't know where he comes up with this stuff!) so we are also considering Avery Cyan even though its a girl. My choice is Avery June (my mom's middle name). What do you think, do you I let him have the middle name I hate?
Avery Rydia
Avery Cyan
Avery June?
Re: Rydia?
Rydia is pretty bad!
I think Avery June is nice.

Avery June is cute.
Rydia is horrid. Get rydia the rash.
Three Girls: Bits 2/08 Biscuit 10/09 & Sweet Chuck 2/12
One Favorite son: Suishy Smalls 6/14
And another Princess coming 7/16
Maybe it's just because I just watched A Christmas Story (which ends with the fa-ra-ra-ra-ras in the Chinese restaurant), but Rydia sounds like a horrible version of Lydia with a racist/stereotyping Asian accent. Not good.
ETA: But to answer your question, I like Avery June.
My first thought on Rydia was trying to get rid of ya.
I do; however, like Avery June.
Other options:
Avery Rose
Avery Charlotte
Avery Jane
Avery Michelle
Best of luck and happy wishes for a Happy Holiday.
ROFL!
I love Avery June! I am considering it for a future daughter, since June is my moms middle name, and Avery is my husbands favorite name for a girl.
I also like
Avery Rose
Avery Elizabeth
Avery Caroline
I really like Avery June. It's so pretty, and the middle name has family meaning to you. Rydia and Cyan are NMS at all. Maybe its just because I'm a graphic designer, by Cyan just makes me think of the color.
Avery June = fantastic beautiful name
Avery Rydia = sounds like a disease
Keep bringing us names like Rydia, and we are likely to get rydia.
Of the choices, I like Avery June best.
Since Avery is a unisex name, Cyan just makes it look like a boy name.
i thought the same about Rydia. it sounds like get "rid of ya"
i think of the color Cyan but it also reminds me of my sisters name cuz they rhyme. ive never met a boy with the name Cyan but i have met one girl.
so i would go with Avery June (altho June is NMS) or Avery Cyan.
Avery June.
I say get a dog or cat and let him name it Rydia or Cyan! They just sound made up!
breastfeeding, cloth diapering, farming mama.
I'm guessing your DH is into Final Fantasy? I knew I recognized the name, and sure enough a quick Google search says a character from FFIV is the only instance of the name(aside from a domain name, rydia.net, sometimes used for email).
Here's a picture of the character:
They've updated the character design; this is what she originally looked like:
And in case you're thinking, as my DH did, that I found the "sluttiest" looking picture available to prove my point--no, this is the actual "official" character art for the character, and the top images that show up in a search for just the word "Rydia". Google pulls up a lot of T&A pinup-style fanart, along with some shots of "suddenly pregnant Rydia" and other such things.
Cyan was a male character from the same game series, two games later--he was a knight(or samurai, depending on who translated the game version you're looking at). Here's his character art, pixelation and all:
If you're ok with naming your daughter after either of these, then go for it--otherwise, ask him to try again.
Rydia? Yikes. I like Avery June.

Get rydia chlamydia.
Yep, that was my first thought. Now if the goal is to keep the boys away (forever), you might be onto something
I wonder where he comes up with these names, too! Cyan is ok, Rydia is awful and June is cute.
Even when we were dating I (somewhat seriously) told my husband that any babies he carried he could name... I'm holding that rule in reserve for if he picks any names I hate too much.
