We are planning on CDing when our baby comes in August. I am thinking I want to use to AIO's. Anyone have any good advice, brands, etc. How many should I buy of each size? Anything else I need to know will be GREATLY appreciated.
I think AIOs are great. The con typically brought up is that they have a longer drying time, but it's worth it for us to have some in our stash. We have BG elementals, they are easy to use.. I def want a few more. I don't know about how many for sized diapers b/c ours are one-size.
I would look a little more into some pocket diapers too before crossing them off your list. I know AIO sound great, but I think more people prefer pockets. They are pretty easy too, just read into it and lurk around this board and you will hear lots of opinions on what to use.
we use AIO's for day care (2 days a weeks) because they are the easiest and most like disposables. I didn't want to interfere too much with their routine... But at home we use pockets and some fitteds. Pocket diapers take MUCH less time to dry - like an hour in the dryer for the inserts and a couple hours on the line for the shells VS a good 24 hours for AIO's. BUT, if you have enough AIO's the drying time shouldn't matter. So, if you figure around 10 diapers a day (I always use this number in case there are extra poops in a day AND this is after the newborn stage where the poop every 5 minutes), then I would want to have at LEAST 30 AIO's so that you can do laundry every other day while still having 10 diapers to use while the others dry. Personally I would probably get more like 40 so I can have a little extra leeway in how often I have to do laundry. Sometimes I don't get to it when I plan on it and am glad that I have so many diapers.
As far as how many per size, that's really a question best answered after your LO has arrived. Depends on how much they weigh when born and how quickly they gain weight. DS has been in mediums since he was 2 months old and they still fit him VERY well, like I have to still pull the aplix all the way to the middle. I'm hoping not to have to buy large......

We love BGs and Fishnoodles. Technically Fishnoodles are all in twos, since the insert snaps in. Fishnoodles are trim and come in very cute prints as well as solids.
Check the FAQ at the top of the board. It has some good resources.
I'm not a huge fan of AIOs. They tend to take forever to dry, and it's harder to adjust absorbency. I only have one in my stash. Everything else is prefolds, fitteds, and pockets.
You may want to get sized CDs until your LO is 10-12 lb, then look into getting one-sized CDs. DD started fitting into them about 3 months of age, and that's almost all we use now.
I'd have at least 2 dozen CDs on hand if you want to wash every other day.
I agree with PP pockets are very similar to AIOs (except you have to stuff) but I like them because you can add absorbency which is nice. plus they take way less time to dry.
