HR Moms? Job search question...

I applied for a job that I REALLY want.  I had to apply through an online system and could not submit a resume.  The contact person is someone in HR, not anyone who I would actually work for/with.  The job closed on Monday.  Should I call them to express my (strong!) interest in the job?  Or just wait and see?  If I do call, what should I say?

It wouldn't hurt to call.  I doubt you will be able to talk to the HR recruiter though. I worked for a company that had and on-line system and I would have my assistant weed out those calls with a generic "We are still looking at all the applicants if we are interested we will make contact with you.  Thank you for expressing your interest."  With that being said I recruited for a lot of entry level high turnover positions.

 

If you do call I would just tell them that you applied for whatever it is that you did and that you wanted to express your interest and were wondering what the status of the job was.  Then take it from there.
