S/o washing stuffed pillows and toys

Can stuffed animals go in the washing machine? The tags don't say anything. DD has had a wicked cold and her stuffed little mermaid doll and stuffed doll that sounds like a rattle is inside both need some de-snotting help! Maybe I should just hand wash?

I put all stuffed animals in the wash. Throw them in a pillow case first and tie a knot in the pillow case and then put on the gentle cycle.  I lay them out to dry.

I've washed and dried all of our stuffed toys on the normal cycle. I even washed a stuffed bear that played music, which obviously doesn't work anymore, but it took a few washings before it stopped working. I know it probably wasn't smart to wash that, but I was lazy.
