Would you still use a name if one of your friends used the name for their LO? DH and I have had our boy names picked out since before we were married. One of our friends has a 2 year old named Brody and that is one of the names we love. I think Brock and Brody sound perfect together and it's the only other name I LOVE. Would them having a Brody keep you from using it?

I think it depends on how close you are with this friend and if you'll be interacting with them a lot. If this friend was a very close one, I wouldn't use the name, but if it's an acquaintance or someone you're not very close to (and don't see hanging out with all that often), then I'd go for it.
I have a smilar situation - one of my friends has a daughter named Amelie. I love the name and it's one of the few that DH likes as well. I wouldn't hesitate to use it - my friend is an old coworker and I haven't seen him in many years.

I agree with the poster who said that it would depend on how close you were with the friend. If it's a friend I spend time with frequently and whose kids my kids would likely be close with... I probably wouldn't use it.
If you're talking about an old high school friend who youdont see often, it probably wouldn't bother me.
It depends on how close you are and how often you see each other.
If you see each other weekly - then I'd say no, find another name.
But if you see each other a few times a year or less, than yeah, no big deal.
I think Brock and Brody sound too much alike anyway.
That's not what I asked but thanks anyway.
We see eachother about once a month. We also move every 3-5 years for DH's job so the chances of us being here by the time the boys are in school is slim to none.
This. My BFF and I have already discussed the possibility of our children sharing the same name. Our friendship has lasted almost a decade already, but that's not to say our kids will ever be best friend's themselves!
