Tell me about favorite all inclusive resort

So DH just got 14 days off end of January through early Feb.

We'd like 6-7 days at a tropical location.  Our first thought was go to Beaches Turks and Caicos with DD.   We'd rather take a family vacation instead of leaving her for all those days.

Beaches resorts were the only ones that came to mind.

There have to be more choices but I don't know which ones or where to start.

  • We are trying to plan the same thing, and can't figure out where to go...thanks for asking this question!

  • We've been to several, but non with DD, so I don't know if it's super prudent.

But, we loved the Paradisus in Costa Rica, and Carabela in Punta Cana. In terms of family-friendly places, I've heard really great things about Franklyn D Resort in Jamaica and Turtle Bay in Hawaii. There's also Club Med, those are always a good bet.

Good luck - wish i could go with you!!!

FWIW, we always book through TNT vacations. They have a price guarantee, and are truly all-inclusive (airport transportation is one thing that most don't include).

  • Sorry, I'm not help, but I was watching that Couples Resort movie the other night and it really made me want to go there! Looked so pretty. lol I really hope we're able to take a vacation soon.
  • Beaches at Turks and Caicos is amazing. I went there 5 years ago. We went to Jamaica for our honeymoon and we stayed at Sunset Beach and Resort at Montengo Bay and we really enjoyed it. Both of these resorts were child friendly.

    Have fun on your vacation!

  • We went to the Hilton Rose Hall in Jamaica this summer and had a blast.  It was definitely family friendly.

  • we went to a Sandals resort in St Lucia for our honeymoon and loved it. I don't think you can go wrong with any Sandals/Beaches tip

ETA: I liked Riu Cancun but I don't think I would go to Mexico now.

  • We love the Iberostar resorts.  DH and I were married at the Iberostar Bavaro in Punta Cana (it's all suites, great large rooms if you're bringing an LO), and have been to the IB Lindo in Mexico (where our friends are actually going to get married later next year and we'll likely bring DD).  Yep, it's the cheesy Antonio Banderas commercials that advertise them LOL (but we've been going to this brand hotel for about 8 years now).

We also LOVE The Royal Playa del Carmen--it's an adults only but they have a family resort right across the street--I think it is called the Gran Porto Real or something.  I've never stayed at the family one (DH and I went there on our honeymoon and babymoon when I was PG), but it's on the same stretch of beach as the Royal and owned by the same company, and I can only imagine the food/service are as good.  It's a GREAT location that is a well kept secret if you ask me.  The ferry to Cozumel is there, and it's at the end of Playa del Carmen's main strip, 5th Avenue.  Not that you'd need it (since the resort is AI), but if you choose to leave the resort there's TONS of restaurants, lounges and shops on the 5th ave.  At the end is a Carlos and Charlies and a really nice plaza with some high end shops.  Along the strip are the normal kiosk like stands that you expect to see when you shop in Mexico, but there's also high end jewelry stores, art galleries, outdoor places to hang out/have coffee or a drink, there's even a Starbucks and a Ben and Jerry's, LOL.  If you can't tell already, Playa del Carmen is my favorite vacation spot (we've been to other areas of Mexico like the Riviera Maya, Cancun and Huatulco and to a Sandals in the Bahamas).

  • Dreams is another family-friendly resort chain.  We've been to the one in Puerto Vallarta twice, the beach is amazing.  Great little town with a unique zoo too.

  • Club Med's are family friendly. I've never been to one but, I've heard good things about them.

We've also been the the Dreams in Puerto Vallarta and loved it!

  • The only family all-inclusives I've been to are Club Meds. They've all been fantastic for families. My absolute favorite was the Club Med in Kos, Greece. GORGEOUS and outstanding in every single aspect (food, entertainment, child-care, rooms, activities, etc...). FWIW, I went as a college student. My grandparents took our entire extended family there (cousins ranging from 2-24 at the time) and it was a really great experience. We also went to another one in Greece and one in France.
