I have a ring sling that I use all the time, but I want to get a wrap to start using instead for some front and back carries.
I am in love with the Bali Breeze Kimber, but I read somewhere that thing gauzy wraps like that need precise wrapping techniques and are not the best for beginners.
I was also thinking about getting a Moby, but read somewhere else to use caution when back carrying. I am not looking to spend $100, but would prefer more in the $50 range. I found the Kimber for $55, but I didn't want to invest in something that won't be right for me. Google isn't as specific as I would like.
Any suggestions? I have never used a wrap before.
Re: Good wrap for back carries for a beginner?
Moby's are only good up to a certain weight because the fabric is knit ands therefore not as expensive.
ncbelle has link in her siggy to her blog which has lots of info on the different brands.
I think all wraps offer something different and it's only when you've tried a few that you really know what you personally enjoy.
You can get some good deals on the babywearer and the wraps are often broken in already which is a bonus.
I know lots of people like mei tais and find them easier to wrap with.
I have a girasol, ellaroo, didymos, hoppediz and vatanai and love them all for different reasons. I particularly love my vat at the moment because of the heat.
I started with a hopp, and didn't have any problems learning with that.

The moby is definitely not safe for back carries - it has too much stretch to get it tight enough.
I personally like the Bali Breeze wraps - they are more forgiving than other gauze wraps I've tried. It's true you have to wrap carefully, but I think that's a better way to learn in the long run. Assuming your LO isn't super heavy yet, you'll still have some "wiggle" room in terms of how carefully you have to wrap to be comfortable. If you love the colorway, I say go for it! If it doesn't work for you, you can always sell it for something that does.
My siggy link has lots more info. And definitely check out the FSOT on the babywearer.com!
