I tried calling my Dr.'s office a bit ago to ask this but apparently it's their lunch break so I had to leave a message....last time I did that...it took hours to return so I thought I'd ask on here and probably get answers and opinions quicker :-)
Tomorrow is my GTT--1 hour. From everything I've read, I'm supposed to fast the morning of (my appt is 915) but what about tonight? I'm not sure how late I should be eating anything tonight and/or, are there foods to avoid. I'm sure these are silly questions but I don't want to mess up and have to do the 3hr!
Thanks!!
Re: Glucose Test Q
This. You'll have to wait until you hear back.
I didn't have to fast for the one-hour, but I did anyway, which was fortunate since I ended up needing to take the three-hour. They were able to do them both in the same day.
My advice is to avoid starchy foods today. I had a lot of starches (potatoes, white bread) the day before my test, and my nurse said that may have pushed me over the acceptable number on the one-hour. If you eat anything in the morning, I'd suggest eggs or something else high in protein and low in carbs.
ETA: My office tests by finger prick, so I got my results immediately. Probably different for those who have to do a full blood draw.
I was told to eat normally the morning before 1 hour. (both times)
just to not eat a super sugary breakfast.
