Babies: 0 - 3 Months

boobie juice

I'm for the most part breast feeding my 6 week old boob monster, and I can not get him to go longer than 2 1/2 hrs at night w/o eating.  Any tips from my fellow BF mommas?  He won't wake up to dreamfeed...and I'm scared about what its going to be like going back to work in a few weeks.  :(  also, when I pump, I always pump out 2 oz.  should the kid be eating more than that?!?  Is that low??

Re: boobie juice

  • At 6 weeks, Alec was still waking up every 2-3 hours at night to eat regardless of what he eats (ff or bm).

Your child will go longer between feedings when he/she is ready to.

Dreamfeeds don't work for all babies.

My MW told me 2 oz a pump is normal- babies are way more effective than a breast pump and they will get what they need, and the more you nurse, the more milk your body will produce.  When I went back to work, I started out only pumping a couple ounces every 2-3 hours, now I get anywhere from 3-5, which is what my LO eats at daycare, plus she sleeps good at night (most of the time) so I get one extra big pump in at 3 am.
