abdominal pain

i have been having these lower abdominal pain, like in my pelvic area. im 27 weeks pregnant. i went to labor and delievery about the pains and all they said was that i was having round ligament pains which can be more or less severe with each pregnancy and to just take tylonol when i feel pain. but that was over a month ago and it has gotten sooo much worse. i cant even roll from side to side in my bed with out being in tears and screaming because im in so much pain, also it takes me about 10 min just to get out of bed because one bad twist or turn sends sharp pain into my pelvic area. i have to walk extra slow and be very careful going upstairs or i get the sharp pains again.

please note that this is not my first rodeo, i also have a 14 month old son and i didnt feel these at all when i was pregnant with him.

ladies, does anybody have any feedback on this??

Re: abdominal pain

  • I have gotten it really severely with both pregnancies, this time earlier than last. At the end of my last pregnancy I would crawl places because it hurt so badly to even get up and walk. This time I already have severe pain like that when moving around in bed, sneezing, coughing etc. I sleep with pillows between my knees and get horrible pain at work after being there a few hours.

It sucks so badly, and there's not much you can really do. A belly brace that my doc gave me helped some but was a burden to wear. Maybe you could ask about one of those?  I'm sorry you're having so much pain. :(

  • I don't know hon but if you're crying and screaming, you need to see your doctor again.  Drink that water and keep us posted!
  • it just sucks that there is nothing that we can do about it. i sleep with a pregnancy pillow too and it helps its just the whole trying to move around and change positions in my sleep that rly hurts.
  • Is it SPD (symphysis pubis disorder)? I had that last time and it sounds similar to what you're talking about. I really don't think there's anything you can do once this god-awful condition strikes other than try to rest as much as possible and DON'T overdo it. (easier said than done with a 14 month old...i know). Best of luck to you.

  • that rly does sound like it. i just googled it. is it that serious though that if when i give birth if they make me go into a bad position it can rly mess with my bones afterwards?
  • Probably not. Most people go back to normal afterwards - I did almost instantly - it was weird.
