Greenish tinted poop?

My LO last few bowel movements have had a greenish tint to them.  I have never seen this before.  He is breast feed and its always been bright yellow.  He is a bit fussy today so I am wondering if the 2 are related???

Re: Greenish tinted poop?

  • As far as I know (and I'm pretty new at this), I think it's normal, as long as it's not super runny and/or frothy (?). If it's greenish/yellowish it's fine, sometimes my LO has that, but then the next poo is yellow and normal. :::shrugs:::

  • it usually means too much foremilk and not enough hind milk.  Make sure when he feeds that he drains the breast before moving to the next breast.  But it's normal!

  • My LO's doctor said as long as the poop is not black (other than the first few days of life of course), pretty much any color is okay!  My LO had yellow a long time, and now it tends to be more green than yellow.  She is BF also.

  • As long as it's not watery and frothy you're good. I've found that if I eat a lot of green veggies (like salads) my son will poop greenish for a day or two.

  • Ditto PP, we were told if LO was still acting normal, eating, peeing/pooping, sleeping, no temp that it was prob fine.  It could be the milk issue or if you have had dark green veggies that could cause it too.
