2nd Trimester

Ow Ow Ow.....

....okay you can stop anytime now.  Today off and on, I've been getting these short episodes (maybe lasting 5-10 minutes at a time) of very short sharp jabs that feel like in the low low part of the pelvis - like maybe where the cervix is?  I'm not sure where to describe it.  It's strange sensation.  Any thoughts?

Re: Ow Ow Ow.....

  • I'll jump on your wagon...my ow ow ow sounds like around the same area, where I'd imagine my apendix to be. I guess this is normal? I worked an 11 hour shift last night (on feet, running around, lifting), then had a fit of dry heaving, now OW. Do we have a paranoid fit and call our doctors? I don't know :(

    No to paranoid fit but if you feel the need to call your OB then do it. It sounds like you just overdid yourself.

    And OP, it sounds like it could possibly be your LO on your cervix. They find it a wonderful kick/punching bag. It could also be RLP.

    I'm sure you're right - will see how I am after a day of true rest. This job is going to kill me. Ech.

  • I don't know if its the same thing or not but Ive been having sharp pains in the lower pelvis area off and on too...Im gonna ask my midwife about it at my next appointment..
  • {Not pregnant, just bored and lurking.}

    That is definitely normal. I call it lightning crotch. My Dr. said it was pressure on the nerves. Unfortunately it gets much worse the larger the baby gets. Sometimes it would send me to my knees, but only last 30 seconds at most.

    It would happen the most when I was running/working out/dehydrated/overexerting myself, so put your feet up and rest. You might be overdoing it.

    It could also be round ligament pain.

  • Oohh, you and lightning crotch will become best friends whether you like it or NOT.

  • Thanks for the replies.  The term "lightening crotch" is really a good description of what I was experiencing.  Does lightening crotch relate more to the baby hitting the cervical area or more like pressure on nerves?  I just didn't think the baby is large enough at this point to cause nerve pinches.
