Rec. your convertable car seat

Thanks for your input on my post below. What convertable car seat do you have and why did you chose it over other options? Do you like it?

I just looked up our infant car seat and realize the limit is 22 pounds and 29". C is just about there on both categories ... I can't believe I am still carrying him around in that thing! It's definitely time to switch it up.

Re: Rec. your convertable car seat

  • we have one Britax (boulevard?) and a First Years True Fit C650 in Urban Life.  I like the First Years much better, but we had problems installing it rear-facing.  Not sure if it's the seats in my Acura or what....

I recommend ordering from Amazon, I believe they have a really relaxed return policy on baby items like that.  If you don't like it, you can return it and order something else.

  • I have the Britax Boulevard and I love it. It is super easy to install with latch, and I could go on but they aren't the best for tall babies. It has a short shell so a lot of kids will outgrow the height long before the weight. The ones I am considering for DHs car are the MyRide 65, the True Fit, and the Safety 1st Complete Air. I went on a forum where a lot of car seat techs post and those were recommended most often. They all have taller shells.

  • I have the Britax Marathon.  It's a bit difficult to install RF (it takes 2 people for some reason - at least when we do it), but FF is much easier.

I bought it because I had heard great things about Britax and it was on a great sale at BRU last summer.

  • We have the Safety 1st Complete Air -- DH installed it rear-facing and didn't seem to have any issues, just had to put a rolled up towel underneath (which I believe was in the manufacturer's instructions).

We like it, though it's kind of bulky rear-faced. We have a Camry (which is pretty roomy) and I have enough room to drive comfortably. However, DH is pretty squeezed in tight when he drives since we have it in the middle seat.
