So I had to brave target today and it was packed! I put DD in the mei-tai, hastily since it was (hardly) sprinkling outside and I wanted to get inside quickly.
I didn't get the bottom tied tight enough, and she was squirming her feet out and it was just not comfortable for both of us.
So how do you go about re-tying your baby in? I went to the bathroom and used the changing table to set her on while I adjusted the carrier, but I don't like that. Any other ideas? Or should I just go back to the car next time?
Also... do you BW if its raining? I really needed the cart and she has been really disliking her infant seat anyways, so I wore her. It was just misting and I got a few looks from people, but I live in San Diego, it really doesn't get that cold here.
Re: BW in public question.
I live in Wisconsin and it is freeeeeezing here and I wear him all the time. I just take his coat off in the car and get him all strapped in by the car and then put my coat over both of us and get in as fast as I can.
Also, I have an Ergo because it so easy to get them in by yourself and I'm not good at wrapping. I can get him on my back without help and I know many talented Mamas who can wrap like no ones business but I never felt like he was tight enough. GL!!!
It gets really cold here, it felt like -5 last week.
I use a beco or ring sling because of the ease and I'll put it on before I go. So I grab all his blankets and quickly scoop him out of the carseat wrapped in blankets and practically run in the store. Once in the store, I get him all situated in the rs or beco and then use the cart.
I don't do back carries though.
I put DS in back carries in the rain, snow, wind, - temps here all the time. I just go as fast as I can and use my Van's windows to help me go quicker. DS does not wear a coat in the car, we do a sweater or a fleece. I wrap and then put a sweatshirt over us. (DH's big sweatshirt with a zipper up the front. Until tomorrow when my BWing coat and vest arrive!!!!!)
I get looks and people asking if I need help I just politely say no and go about my wrapping business:)
i BW in the rain - you can get your raincoat around the carrier and then the umbrella and your LO is snug as a bug! And your body heat is the best temp regulator for your baby anyway, so it's way better than having to lug the bucket, a blanket, your umbrella, the diaper bag....you get my point.
let em look! they're just jealous they didn't think of it, too ;-)
Glad to know I'm not the only one braving the weather (if you could even call it that here lol).
Thanks for the advice/encouragement
