I think Lucy is starting to make a "comeback" but I wouldn't consider it popular. I think it is one of those names that will always be a classic. I think its pretty.

I love the name Lucy. However, we now have 2 Lucys in our friends/family. One was born in March & the other in September. It's definitely making a comeback.
I love the name Lucy, but I do expect that it'll have jumped quite a few spots on next year's SSA list. I believe it's somewhere in the top 10 in Britain.
#101 in popularity. If you want a more unpopular name, I'd stay up and out of the Top 100 or even 200. Lucy is 101, so it is popular, though not overly popular. Expect to see at least couple other Lucy's when your daughter is in school.
Very lovely name choice. Lucy is gorgeous and spunky, and I love it for that. It has the same feel as most other very popular names right now.. I was actually surprised, I figured it'd be in the top 20!

We chose Lucy for DD because its not as popular but still not a weird name. We don't know anyone else with the name and most people comment on how "you just don't hear that name these days". That being said it has become quite popular on here in the last year and it jumped on the SSA list of names for 2010. It think it was around 70 last year and its up in the 50s now. I see it getting more popular in the next few years. Its seems that more and more traditional names are gaining popularty recently.
Ha our dog is also named Lucy. A few years ago I read that Lucy was in the top 5 for dog names. But it really is a cute name so I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to use it.
It's making a comeback, but I don't think it's TOO popular. I have a friend with a daughter named Lucy and it is a terrific name for a cute kid. I like it.
Re: Do you consider Lucy popular?
Honestly, I think it is very popular as a pet name. I feel like I know more Lucy's than I really do because I know of so many dogs by that name.
But I love Lucy, especially as a nickname for Louise or Lucille.
I agree that it's a common name for dogs, not as common for babies, but making a comeback. It is a great name.
