DS has been sleeping through the night for a few weeks now and I've noticed that since he started doing that, his so called schedule of feeding every 3 hours or so during the day is shot. He's now going about 2-2.5 hours during the day and cluster feeding in the evening until bedtime. Anyone else find this to be the case? I feel like instead of him upping how much he takes from me during feedings to compensate STTN, he's just feeding more frequently during the day.
Re: LO's who STTN...?
Allergic to soy, oat, egg, peanuts, and tree nuts
My LO has been STTN for a little over a week and I found that she ate similar to this. She eats about every 2-2.5 hours during the day, a bit of clustering at night and then she's out from 7:30ish to 6 or 7am (ish). I'll take the closer feedings for the long stretch at night
Although, yesterday she did change things up again and it was more like 2.5 to 3 hours apart and no clustering and she still STTN. I got worried b/c she only had 5 feedings, so I assumed she would be up at 4 or 5 to eat, but she got up at 7ish. I figure...she'll let me know if she is hungry and she seems fine otherwise. I assume she's getting more ounces during the daytime feedings.
Curious....do you wake up your LO to change her diaper now that your LO is STTN? I don't and she seems fine (no diaper rash), but was wonder what others are doing. I think she doesn't poop until closer to the morning, but who know!s?!?!
I don't wake him up to change his diaper and he seems to be fine.
I'm realizing that he's having 6-8 feedings every day because of how often he eats during the day. I would also rather have him eat more often during the day so that he STTN. I'm glad you guys are experiencing the increase in feedings during the day too!
This is just what a friend advised me to do, but it worked for us. She said to have a set wake & feed time each morning. I made it 7am thinking of my transition back to work. Once DS got himself on a 3.5- 4 hour feeding routine we fed him at 7am, 11, 3, 6:30pm, 11pm and for about 1.5-2 months he was waking at 3am or 4am to eat again. We kept with it and then one day a few weeks ago he slept until his 7am feeding! He's been good about it since.
My friend told me the reason to try to feed ever 3.5-4 hours is that he'll get a full meal at every feeding and his tummy will continue to get bigger, which allows for more food at 11pm to help him sleep through the night.
