I see so many pregnancy books recommended, but what about what to do when you're actually home with the baby? Any good books? Also, any good books for fathers on what to do once home with the baby?

The only book i picked up, baby 411. its a referance type book so you can flip through to find your issue. honestly there is no time to read!
This. (plus Happiest baby on the block) Im very very slowly trying to read a few relevant chapters of Baby 411 such as breastfeeding- wish i had done it before LO got here.I thought it was all where you flip to find your issue but read at least the second chapter on the baby's first week. It would've clarified things for me. (first chapter is on the pediatrician if you need that.)
The Happiest Baby on the Block is a lifesaver. There's a DVD, too, and I actuallyt hought it helped clarify some things in the book -- like how LOUD your shush should be. My husband just watched the DVD and he's way better at the techniques than I am.
Baby 411 was the best reference guide by far, esp for milestones nad vaccines.
Heading Home with your Newborn: From Birth to Reality was a great "how to" book -- how to feed, how to bathe, how to change. Really good step by step instructions for new parents!

There really isn't time to read after the baby is born, so I would make sure to do your reading beforehand. Also, On Becoming Babywise has been fantastic for us.
I agree with a lot of these posts. The happiest Baby on the Block has been great and I love reading what to Expect the First Year.

This. Especially if you are reading/planning to read What to Expect When You're Expecting. They use the same layout and personally, I love them both.
Cheyenne, the secret to getting my DH to read the Daddy stuff was putting it in the bathroom. Sounds funny, but it actually worked! lol

What to Expect the First Year and The Baby Book.
I bought DH a few books but he never looked at them so I have no idea if they are good.

Books for Mommies:
What to Expect the First Year
Baby 411
Book for Daddies:
Be Prepared (it's an awesome easy-to-read book that looks like a Boy Scout manual).
