Grandma wants to buy car seat. Don't know which one to tell her to buy.

I'm sure this has been asked a billions times. But what convertible car seat do you recommend buying? The Baby Bargains book says they like the Britax Marathon. But it's just so expenisve. There are so many cheaper ones out there. I'm just wondering if you have found that the more expensive ones truly are better, or if you have one you like that's not that expensive? TIA!

We got the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite. It is $139 at Target. DS loves it and it seems very comfortable. We looked at several and for us, the Safety 1st worked.

I happen to like the less expensive ones BETTER

My top choices are the First Years TrueFit, Graco MyRide, Evenflo Triumph65 and Safety 1st Complete Air. All are just as safe, just as nice and just as easy to use as the Britax at about half the price

I've been shopping around for a 2nd car seat, and the Cosco ones are highly rated for safety but are very inexpensive.  You can get them at Target.

We have the First Years True Fit and the Graco MyRide.  I like both of them.  I prefer the True FIt.

We have the Britax Marathon 70 in our car and my mom has the Graco MyRide 65 in her car. We felt it was worth it to spend the extra $ for the Britax since it was so highly rated, plus it was pretty much the only one that fit well in our small Civic. My mom doesn't drive with DD very often, and she has a much bigger CRV, so we thought the Graco would be fine for her.
