I found out today I have gained 24 lbs at 23 weeks! Ahhh! With my previous pregnancies I always told the nurse not to tell me and just figured I would worry about it later. Today, I thought I would live on the wildside and glance at the scale while the nurse was weighing me.
My doc didnt bring it up so I asked her about it and she said I was fine and that I always seem to "shrink right down" after my babies so I should not worry. (Thank God for breastdfeeding...my only salvation lol!)
Anyone out there gain a lot brave enough to post so I don't have to feel like a huge tugboat alone??;)
Re: None of the I have lost weight or gained 3 lb girls allowed! lol
With my son I gained 65 lbs.. I weighted in at 181 when I got pregnant and gave birth at 246!!
When I look back at my pictures the day they induced me I now understood why people thought I was giving birth to twins, triplets or toddlers.. LOL!!!
I'm 21w and I've gained between 14-19lbs (Not sure of my starting weight).
I'm happy with my weight gain and you should be too. You aren't over doing it, IMO.
As long as you feel like you are eating well and getting some exercise (and chasing after other children totally counts) then stop looking at the scale!
I gained 70 with my first son and lost it all plus about 10 extra pounds in under 3 months. So far with this one I have gained 15 pounds, but the pace is picking up, so I wouldn't be surprised if I get up there again, although I am going to try not to.
I would not be concerned at all with your weight gain. You are doing exactly what you need to be!
At my last appointment I found out that I had gained 9 lbs in 4 weeks. I was horrified, but am trying to calm down. I did that with my previous pregnancy, too. Overall weight gain is about 18 lbs (that was at about 21 weeks or so.) Doc doesn't seem concerned, so I'm not.
I'm just trying to watch my sugar intake and get a bit more exercise---and other than that I am trying not to focus on my expanding rear. It's just a season!
This is my first baby (usually a lurker but thought I'd share too)
I've gained 28 lbs and am one day shy of 19 weeks. I never threw up during the first trimester and carbs were the only thing that didn't make me nauseous. I'm trying to watch what I eat and excercise more but, it's been tough. I'm right here with you!
I like this thread. I'm up about 16lbs but its been a steady weight gain, and I've continued to exercise and watch what I eat. My usual doctor hasn't said a word about it but I got a lot of flack from the US doctor. He also insinuated that our baby wouldn't be smart because of my eating habits... great, thanks.
I've gained 21 lbs so far. I'm basically on the same weight gain trend that I was with DS and I only ended up gaining 35 lbs total. My weight gets packed on in the beginning and tapers at the end - I only gained ONE lb in the last 6 weeks of my previous pregnancy.
I lost all but 7 lbs within the first 3 weeks after DS was born (also thanks to BFing!). The last 7 gradually came off over the next year and I started off this pregnancy a little below my pre-pregnancy weight with DS (even a little lower than my wedding day weight!).
I gained just about 40lbs with my DS and my dr said that 1lb/week for a pregnancy is fine, he didn't care. I'm hoping I don't do that this time around though b/c I was already 20lbs over my "normal" weight...I'm just trying to make better choices (The best that I can anyway lol) instead of eating a bag of cookies I'm trying to eat lots of fruit or veggies....if I can stuff myself with the good stuff I'll save myself a lot of calories.
ETA: FYI--I think I really just wrote this to reassure myself to stay on track!!! Don't go off the path.. I've been saying to myself lol
Thank you!
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of the posts where they're all comparing how little weight they have gained or how much they lost...as if it's a freakin contest. These are the probably the same people that say that pregnancy is a breeze and that they love being pregnant. Shut up already.
That's why I loved Jenny McCartney's book and how she was honest at how much weight she gained, how big her ass got, and how she has cellulite everywhere. FInally, a woman that is being honest.
That said, I know I've gained quite a bit and after the first 2 months...i just stopped counting and accepted it.
I had gained 14 by my 23 week appt. I am trying to only put on 1 pound a week, but it looks like I'll be up like 5-6 for my 27 week appt (Thanksgiving and a million holiday parties are to blame!), so 19-20 lbs at 27 weeks. I have really been trying to strive for 20-25 (that whole 15-25 lb range for people in my BMI is crap. The baby, placenta, extra blood, etc weighs btw 17-20 lbs!). I'm pretty proud of the weight that I've gained so far. I follow the Brewer's Diet and I journal what I eat on babyfit.com. I know that the majority of the weight I've gained is what my body needs to gain in order for me to have a healthy pregnancy.
Also, I gained 8 pounds btw Thanksgiving and New Years last year and I wasn't pregnant! I figure I'll gain about the same amount this year, but my baby is putting on weight now, so some of that is him!
