XP: Diaper Bag Question

My husband and I are planning on going the CD route. I have heard great things about the Skip Hop brand of diaper bags, but was wondering if people had other suggestions or confirmations that this was a great brand for us to use for our CD needs.

Re: XP: Diaper Bag Question

  • I've never used that brand but even with the one I have I found that I only carry 4 CDs with me and a small tote bag that I leave in the car with a few more. I can fit more but it fills the bag too much. I have a coach baby bag. Also I have a hobo style purse which hold a lot I use for short trips.

  • We just got a skip hop duo deluxe about a month ago. Before that, we just used an old bag we had around that mostly met our needs. Our theory was that we wanted to see what our style was before we bought any specific diaper bag because it seems different people like different features in diaper bags. The bag we were using was getting a bit small for the prospect of now needing to take snacks and warmer winter accessories when we're out, and with fewer naps, we tend to be out and about longer now that DS is older.

I would say the skip hop bag we have is pretty good. It's black and fairly nondescript, so my husband has no problem toting it (which is good, since he has DS one day a week that I work). The inside pockets fit about one BG 3.0/4.0 each fairly easily, and there are enough other pockets and general space to take what we need and keep it organized. It's big enough, but doesn't seem overly huge when there is less in it either. We also got it online for about $35 ($38?), so the price was right for us too. I usually only have one or two extra diapers in my bag, unless we're going to be out for more than a couple hours.

  • You don't need that particular brand. You just need something large enough to hold all your stuff.  I usually only bring 1-2 diapers and I leave a disposible in there also.  I rarely have to use it but I use them at night anyway and it sure is smaller.  I always bring a wetbag and also have another CD in the car. We always take short trips 2-3 hours max because DS doesn't last much longer so we usually dont need a huge bag.

I love my Petunia Pickle Bottom bag (the one that looks like a purse) and also used a Vera Bradley one for a while.  That one was perfect for the early months with all the bibs, blankets, changes of clothes etc.
