Home births-have you had one in RI?
So I was looking for a mid-wife...to have my baby at home. When I found one that had great references she told me she was to booked for June...does anybody know of other Mid-wifes that may be available in June and that are awesome? Please let me know-thanks.
Honestly...a little sad that this women didn't work out for me...

I've heard that Mary Mumford Haley is the person to go to in RI. Also, I found this thread that has additional names and links. I don't think that midwifery is very well supported in RI. Have you tried asking the midwife is she has any other suggestions?

I ended up using the alternative birthing center (ABC) at W&I. It was nice but there are many, many reasons that they can transfer you from the ABC to a standard L&D room. Good luck, I think that a home birth would be awesome!

Wow (hi ladies! new here!) I didn't even think about the fact that midwives could booked so far in advance...I was thinking that I didn't have to make that decision until I was a little closer, but maybe I'd better get on it!
Question: if you want to go with a homebirth, is it still ok with a midwife to continue with prenatal care at a regular clinic? I've already started with W&I, and while I don't really like that it seems like you just get funnelled into a pre-existing system, I would kind of like to continue with the first and second trimester stuff.
