Baby Throwing Head Around Before Bedtime...???

It seems some nights when LO is about to go to sleep, or wakes up, she throws her head around from side to side, very fast, almost violently...Once we pick her up, she's fine, but it's when she's lying down and even in her swing sometimes, she seems to do this...I thought maybe it was her way of getting comfortable, but DH was more concerned about this...does anyone's LO's do this? Do you know what could cause it or how to stop it? It's a bit scary when she does it, but it's not all the time, so we can't even pin point it to anything specific. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. We see the doc next week, but I thought I'd post and ask here. Thanks.

DD does this almost every night before bed. Some people say it's a form of self soothing. Made sense to me since DD only does this when she's swaddled and don't have her hands to help soothe

Super normal. It's said to be a way of self soothing in a way, trying to get that lightheaded feeling. She'll probably start to try banging her head into things to over and over again. It's scary, but normal.

DD used to do something pretty similar. She would sort of rock herself when she was falling asleep by moving her head back and forth. She rubbed off all her hair in the back.

My DS does that also. He also tends to do it in the morning when he first wakes up and is trying to go back to sleep. He has also rubbed off some of his hair also.
