If your child has had diagnosed RSV:

Did it appear to be a regular cold?  I looked up the sympotms online and I think DD just has a bad cold but the pediatricians office wanted her to come in.  Thing is...... they always want her to come in.  I really don't think DD has this issue but now the pedi's office is making me paranoid. 

 DD has a cough, runny nose & appears to have aches from coughing but she has not had a fever and no wheezing.

Symptoms in Infants

For infants, illness begins most frequently with symptoms that include:
 
  • Fever
  • Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Wheezing

Severe Symptoms

Severe lower respiratory tract disease can occur at any age. If severe symptoms occur, a person can experience:
 
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Rapid breathing
  • Inability to get enough oxygen
  • A bluish or purplish tinge to skin.

    No, when DS had RSV it was much worse than a "regular cold".  The cough was awful and you could see by his ribs and throat when he was struggling to breathe.

    A lot of people don't realize that RSV can be mild. It can also be VERY severe (especially in preemies) but it's not always like that. Ella had RSV but she was a preemie and it was very serious. It won't hurt to just go to the pedi and make sure everything is fine. It sounds like a cold to me though.

    I think we are going to go in on Saturday morning to be on the safe side.  When I talked to DH he mentioned her breathing faster than normal but I thought that was because she had coughed hard but the more I think about it.... I'd still rather be safe than sorry.

    It showed up worse than a cold. He had snot just pouring out of him, and he was wheezing. The wheezing is what clued me in that it was something more severe.

    I would say with no fever or wheezing, and as long as it hasn't gotten any worse, you are fine to wait it out.
