So mean to DH

My DH and I are in the process of moving from near DC to near VA Beach, so he is working there and I am working here. Well he called me at work the other day to tell me how awful his morning had been because he accidently locked his keys in his car and he couldn't get the car open so he called a locksmith to do it. He told me that the locksmith charged him 80 bucks but that was the cheapest he could find, and I went off. Our insurance does that kind of stuff for free which I thought was common sense especially since we had to call them the same day he got the car earlier this year because he locked his keys in his car then as well. I told him he was an idiot for spending 80 dollars on something that insurance does for free which is why we pay them every month.  I also told him I was going to get him a medical type bracelet to remind him of all the dumb stuff he should remember. I know it wasn't nice of me to chew him out like this but I couldn't believe he spent 80 dollars when he didn't have to! If we had 80 extra dollars lying around than it wouldn't have bothered me but because we are in the process of trying to move money is super tight! Maybe I'm too mean to him sometimes.

That really sucks.  Could you try submitting the bill to your insurance for reimbursement?  They might at least be able to repay you for a portion of it.

I actually might be able to do that! I will call them today and see. Thank you for the idea! Now to see if DH kept the receipt...

My ins company will reimburse $50.  If DH didn't keep the receipt have him call the locksmith and get a duplicate copy.

Eeeeee   Poor DH. I've done that too and then felt super aweful about it later. Looks like someone gets a favor...if ya know what I mean He'll forgive you instantly!

I work for an insurance co. They usually will reimburse you!

I wonder if your husband would feel better to know that you're online telling your bumpie friends what an idiot he is. I think mine would be even more hurt than if I yelled at him.
