Babies: 0 - 3 Months

It's 10:30 EST and there's no UO post yet.

That needs to be remedied.

  • I detest those blow up yard thingies that people put out for holidays.  They are obnoxious and really people, you don't need 8 of them in your yard... and you really don't need ones that move.  And to my neighbor across the street - Santa oozing out of a tree does NOT scream Christmas!

  • Being on food stamps isn't necessarily a bad thing.  Sh!t happens, and it's nice that your family won't have to starve when it hits the fan.  HOWEVER...

...you suck at life if your using your food stamps and stocking up on soda, candy, chips, cookies, white bread, and banquet meals.

Children need actual FOOD in their bodies, not fillers, sugars, and processed JUNK!

  • This is more venty than UO, but whatevs.

3 or so years ago, Washington banned indoor smoking at bars and restaurants. Fine, I was a smoker then but I went with it.

Now WA is trying to ban e-cigarettes because "they might make people think of smoking and then they'll smoke again." or "they might think they can smoke and start smoking a real cigarette"  JFC, people are not that stupid.  Anyone who smokes knows the difference between a real cigarette and a fake one.

I hate you WA State government.  I hate you like a fat kid hates carrots.

  • There really is no need to buy every.single.item your kid(s) ask for for Christmas.. just buy a few really nice gifts. Or else they will turn into little brats that think they deserve everything.

  • I like Ke$ha.

There. I said it. Out loud for the first time ever.

I resisted it, but I recently saw a video of her singing a Rolling Stones song--without Auto Tune--and she sounded great. That's when my resistance became futile.

  • I know a girl who is 19 or 20 who has newborn twins with a guy that she was "in a relationship" with for two weeks.  Ok, cool, whatever.  But the poor babies are always in the hospital for one surgery or another and she still goes out to the club while they are recovering.  Yeah...not so cool.

  • I wanted to start this thread when I was up earlier around 7 am but I figured it was too early and wouldn't get any love.

Anyway, my UO I really don't like Christmas cards, I don't send them and I really don't want them.  They're just a waste me, a cute glittery picture that says "Merry Christmas" or "Seasons Greetings" and your signature does nothing for me.  I don't mind the picture ones, if you have a cute kid I might like to see but other than that save your money and some trees!

  • Here's another:

I think it's effing stupid that Sandra Bullock is People's most intruiging person of the year.  Why is she so intriguing? She won an Oscar, got divorced, adopted a kid.

Those things don't make one "intruiging".  Angeline Jolie did them all like 10 years ago.

  • I don't understand why people buy ridiculously expensive clothing for babies. They outgrow it so quickly. My MIL bought my son an outfit from Strasburg and he wore it once. It was over $100. To me that's just stupid.

  • I think starting our own Holiday traditions is way more important than trying to find a way to do every little thing or event our family has done in the past. We were the kids then and our parents created those traditions for us. Now we are the parents and we should get to do our own traditions. Even if that means grandma only see C on Christmas and not Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

When C gets older, I'd like to go on Christmas to volunteer at a soup kitchen as a family. If the gparents don't like it, they can suck it.

This is my siggy. Love it.

  • Other than her Christmas Eve pajamas, we are not getting B or each other a single thing for Christmas. She is two months old FFS--she can't even hold her head up to open them with us.  Anything we got her would be for us, and we already have all our baby needs met. Next year we'll spoil her rotten, but for now, we'll have a nice breakfast in our new jammies and call it good.

I didn't get DD#1 anything her first Christmas for that same reason, plus she got so much from others.  This year we got some things for DD#2 because I didn't want DD#1 to wonder why Santa didn't bring anything for her sister.

I've gone with my mom to a local church on Christmas day for as long as I can remember to serve meals.  This is the first year I wont be going (because DH wants to go see his fam and not split Christmas like we've done in the past) and  I'm really upset about it.

Sorry but going to serve meals to people who are less fortunate is way more important to me than sitting around opening presents (most of which I dont need or want-yes I realize that sounds bratty).  I'd rather give back...Dh and his fam do not understand that.  Drives me nuts.

  • I don't like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny and I think it's wierd when people tell their kids that they are real.  They're going to find out eventually that they are not real and don't you think they'll be upset that you lied to them for X amount of years?  I don't have a problem if you would tell them it's pretend, fine but to make them think it actually is really santa bringing them gifts seems wrong to me.

Nope.  I honestly don't know one person who was mad at their parents for telling them Santa wasn't real.  Were they disappointed? Yes.  Mad at their parents?  No.

Children need to believe in something that is magical and special.  Santa is magical and special.  The longer I can keep the girls from the "realities" of the world, the better.

  • I am completely sick of the Santa debate.   Santa is coming to my house and if someone else's kid ruins it for mine, I will let that parent know how I feel. EOD  Kid's suck at a certain age and will be sure to ruin it for others no matter what their bah humbug parents tell them.  Trust me on this one, I taught lower elementary school Angry

If you have formula checks, coupons, bottles, baby crap which you are NOT going to use, why must it be a trade?  You aren't going to use it anyway.  For instance I use Similac Alimentum, I get Good Start checks a lot.  I don't need them-they'll get thrown away.  I would never only give them away if someone had Similac.  I am not needing them anyway.  That whole H...W...thing makes my eyes roll and wonder about you.

I guess these were more WTF or FFFC, but I am in a p!ssy mood and these things are bothering me today.

I didn't say they'd be mad I said they'd be upset.  IDK I just feel like it's important for me to be completely open and honest with my kids, if they ask me a question I tell them the answer in a way that they will understand.

FWIW- which is probably not much, I don't tell them that he's not real because he was real at one time I just tell them the real story.  do you plan on telling them yourself sometime?  If so when and how?

I am going to assume they will figure it out on their own and tell me.  At least that's what happened with us.  My sister is older and stopped believing earlier than I did.  She never spoiled it for my brother and me.  I then told my mom and my brother figured it out a couple yrs later.  None of us have any issues with our parents "lying" to us.  Olivia knows Santa is coming.  To see it through her eyes is amazing!  I cannot imagine not sharing this with her.

I see what you're saying, I just keep imagining all these disappointed kids when they finally do find out but if it would be like you described that's not so bad.  I also have a dad who loves to make up stories and I would always feel so dumb for believing him and repeating them as fact to people so that probably doesn't help my opinion of the whole thing :P

come on, you can't really think your kids are going to be upset with you and damaged by the Santa story...let them believe!  There are so few things that emit that much magic in a kids life. And as the world changes into a cruel place, the magic of Santa wil still be with them.  Last night Olivia watched her video/email from Santa.  It was so wonderful to see her light up.  I think all kids need that.

But again, I am so sick of this Santa thing.  It is what it is-some people believe, others have chosen to spoil it for their kids Wink

Meh. I haven't done one of these yet, but I have responded to a few. I probably will do one because I just got a bunch more I don't need. I was thinking I'd post it as a trade and if no one responds post again to give them away. The only sucky thing about that is it will make two posts which is clutter-y.  I wish they could/would make a separate board for trading stuff. That would be ideal.
