How much is your 3wk old sleeping during the day?

I feel like with DS I obsessed over his eating and always wanted to make sure he was eating enough (which was silly because he was/is a beast, lol) and now with DD I am obsessed with her sleep. I don't remember DS being up as much as she is during the day. I feel like he slept, woke to eat and went right back to sleep until he was at least 2 months old. DD on the other hand sleeps, wakes to eat and then stays awake sometimes 1-2 hours before finally going back to sleep and then she only sleeps for an hour-hour & 1/2 until it's time to eat again.

What is your 3wk old doing? Are they having a lot of awake time? Or are they sleeping most of the day?

Me too. Yesterday she was awake so much she slept five hours straight last night and I woke up engorged.

  • He sleeps through the morning (getting up to eat, obviously), but in the afternoon, he's up more than earlier.

He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be.  He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
  • My son sleeps all the time except for eating. He does have wakeful periods but they are short. My other 2 didn't sleep nearly as much at this age.

  • DS wakes up at 8am for his feeding and stays up for at least 2 hours... sometimes till his next feeding.  Then naps most the day, then has another wake up time around 5ish...
  • Our LO sleeps a significant amount more during the day compared to at night, but he is starting to wake for longer periods of time. I think the longest he's been awake has been 2 hours..maybe a little longer. The thing that kills me though is the majority of the time that he's awake at night, and by night i mean between 4 & 7 am he just doesn't seem happy. he'll eat, I'll change his diaper, burp him, do everything i can think of to make sure he's comfortable, and he will just cry and cry and cry and nothing will console him. It kills me, hopefully you're not dealing with this.
