Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Mom's in wintery states.

Do you ever have things you need to get done, but just the idea of getting LO out of the house is so exasperating that you almost don't go?  It is such an ordeal to get him in and out of the house and anywhere when it is 10 degrees outside.  But I have stuff I need to do!  UGH.

Re: Mom's in wintery states.

  • Yeah... I'm notorious for not taking care of an errand because it's too cold or it's raining. It's really just such a hassle. I don't blame you in the least...

  • It's so freaking cold here that I dread taking them both out sometimes to run errands. I don't have a choice though. It needs to get done, sometimes. I just suck it up and go do it. If I don't have too, I'll avoid it, though. Or, I try to take only one kid so it's easier on all of us.

  • I know how you feel, and the LOs love to go out. I just don't want to drag them around in the cold/ bad weather. It's going to be a long winter...
  • In a word, yes.  Jackets, mittens, hats... sometimes more work than it is worth.  Sometimes I put errands off til DH is home and DS in sleeping for this very reason.
  • I DREAD leaving the house. I usually do not go out unless I have to or I am meeting up with someone. I save the menial errands for when DH is home and we can go together. Unless it is absolutely necessary, I won't go out. It is too cold out!

  • I do this all the time. This morning it was -4 I mean really NEGATIVE FOUR?! I could barely function let alone take ds out it in.
  • Yes! I have to go to the grocery store today and I am dreading it

  • We try and get everything done on Monday and Tuesday (G's days off) so that I don't have to drag Liam and the kids out in the cold and snow.

  • I hate going anywhere anytime....ever since we switched to the toddler seat from the infant seat, DD HATES getting in the car.  I've checked and everything is fine with the seat, straps, etc. she just dislikes the 5 point harness.  I even dread picking her up from daycare, she arches her back and screams whenever I try to strap her in.  Oy!  Not only that, but since the seat is bigger and RF, it's almost impossible to tighten the straps.  It's supposed to adjust simply, just put the harness on and then pull a strap in the front to tighten it, but the button and strap are so close to the seat I can't hardly pull it at all.  I'm almost ready to get something else.  Lastly the straps are ALWAYS twisted which drives me nuts and makes it even harder to buckle.

    Ok, vent over.

  • Yep! I am the same way. If it's cold and snowy out, we stay indoors. It's  just so much easier that way! Of course, it's cold and snowy until March so I'm pretty sure cabin fever will start pretty soon...LOL.
  • The only thing I really need to do is get more Christmas cards printed off.  Putting off the rest of my Christmas shopping for Friday.  Maybe we will just stay in today, hoping DS will take a nap soon.  DH works 12-8PM and I work 11PM-7AM.  So I dont have many places I can run to once DH gets home.

  • yep but we just bundle up and go anyway--winter gets too long otherwise.    i just do most of my errands running around on one day of the week.  it helps.
  • I live in a very cold and snowy city and often stay home because of it. There's never really anything that I have to do that can't be done later, or skipped. The grocery shopping almost always gets done by DH or I in the evening or weekend when we can go together or alone, without the kids; it's just way easier than me doing it alone with both LOs. And the same can be said for pretty much any other errand that I plan to do.

  • Yep!  It was SO cold here yesterday that when DH said he wanted to go out, I looked at him like he had 10 heads.  I HATE the cold weather and if I it isn't 100% necessary for me to go out in it then I won't.  I also feel so bad bundling DD up just to put her in the car, then take her coat off so I can put her in the car seat and then put the jacket back on before taking her out of the car to run my errands.  It is just TOO MUCH WORK.
