Intro and a question :)

Hi ladies!

First, I want to extend my sympathies to you and your families for having to go through your losses. I don't "know" any of you, but I think of and pray for the women here often. I've been lurking for a while but wanted to at least introduce myself in hopes of making some new friends and offering comfort and advice when I can.

My name is Melissa and my husband and I have been TTC since August of 2009. After wonky cycles and some weight loss, we got our first BFP in September of this year, only to lose our precious little baby a few weeks later.

Now for the aftermath...I had my d&c for the m/c on 10/15. I then had to go in for a LEEP on 11/3 only to start bleeding VERY heavily afterward. Went to the ER and ended up passing blood clots from the d&c....and had ANOTHER d&c to clean everything out.

So yeah...that's 2 d&c's and a LEEP within 3 weeks. Needless to say I imagine my cervix not being super happy with me. But I pray that it will cooperate when we start TTC again. I'm still waiting for my first period since my 2nd d&c on 11/04. My doctor said no sex for at least 6 weeks (which has sucked!) and that he would rather me wait until after I have my first period...but as of right now I have no idea how long that is going to be!

So my question is this (and I guess is in 2 parts)...

1) How long did it take for you to get your first period post d&c?

and 2) Did you give yourself a time limit? As in, "if I dont get my period by ___ weeks, Im calling my Dr.". I'm thinking of calling the doctor by the 8 week mark if I get nothing...but then again I have no idea what the standard is and if I might be jumping the gun.

We are not able to TTC again until I get a clean pap smear in February, but I would love to have had at least 1 cycle by then!

I don't have an asnwer for either of your questions. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for your loss. Many of the ladies here have had D&Cs so they'll be able to give you some insight. Welcome and thank you for introducing yourself.

hello and welcome. I'm sorry for your loss. After my first D&C it took 5 weeks for AF to show up and after my second it was 6 weeks. I suppose if I had gone 8 weeks I'd have given my doctor a call. Good luck!

I'm so sorry for your loss. We had also been trying for over a year when we got our BFP. I didn't have a D&C, so I can't answer your questions, but there are lots of great ladies here who I am sure can help.

Hi and Welcome!  I didn't have a D&C, but it took me 50 days to get my first AF after my natural m/c.  I had emailed my dr at 5 weeks because I still hadn't even ovulated (I was charting), and they said if I didnt get it in the next week to come in for Provera.  Well, I ended up ovulating right after that, and got AF two weeks later, no meds needed.

This now is my first real cycle since AF came, and it seems back to normal.

I didn't have a D&C, but it took about 35 days after my first m/c.  I just had my second m/c & am still waiting for AF (it's only been 21 days).  My OB told me the rule is the same as "normal".  If you go 60-days without a period to give them a call.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't know about post dc cycles, but post delivery (I lost my daughter at 39 wks) it took almost 14 wks to get AF back. At the 3 month mark I had to call to renew my antidepressant and mentioned my lack of AF. I went in for an us and bloodwork and was given an rx for prometrium to start my period. I got home and low and behold AF was there. But my OB had mentioned that 10 wks would have been plenty to wait. GL and hope AF doesn't take too long to return.

I'm sorry for your loss and for everything you've had to go through. I had a late loss, but AF came 6 weeks after. I was told anything up to 8 weeks was normal, so I planned to call if it didn't arrive by then. Anyway, welcome to the board! It's a great group of ladies.

I am very sorry for your loss.  I didn't have a D&C, but AF arrived 4 weeks after I delivered - not sure if that helps.  I know a lot of ladies here had really wonky cycles after their loss too.  Welcome to the board - I hope that you get wonderful support here - these guys are great!

I had a D&C and it took 8 wks for AF to show.  My OB had said if it didn't start in 6 wks, she would give me progesterone, but of course when I called after 6 wks, she was on a 2 week vacation. And then I finally O'd (I was charting/using OPKs) so I knew AF would come on her own, so I didn't bother going into the dr.

Did you chart immediately after your d&c? I was thinking about doing it and now I'm kinda sorry I didn't. I'm thinking I just might wait till the New Year...that will put me around the 8 week mark anyways!
